i). Registration of Jobseekers :-
All Indians citizens who have attained the age of 15 years and who or his/her parents normally have been residing in Assam are eligible to Register their names ONLINE with the Employment Exchanges in the State of Assam.
ii). Submission of Job Seekers Names to Employers :-
To submit the particulars of registered candidates for employment against vacancies notified by different employers both in public as well as in private sectors at local Employment Exchanges.
iii). Vocational Guidance, Career Counseling for Job-Seekers :-
District Employment Exchanges, Nagaon also takes up Vocational Guidance activities & career seminars in schools/colleges to create awareness among the students on career opportunities and skill developments.
Guidance is beneficial for the individual as well as to the society. It helps an individual by providing assistance in solving problems relating to choice of career, occupational change and adjustments.
iv). Employment Market Information (EMI) Programme:-
Employment exchange as part of their regular activities are to collect employment market information through ER-I quarterly Return which is compulsorily submitted by the Public & Private Sector employers As per “Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act, 1959 and Rules-1960”.
v). Enforcement Of Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification Of Vacancies) Act, 1959 :-
As per “Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification of Vacancies) Act, 1959 and Rules-1960”, all Public and Act Establishments in Private Sector (having employees 25 nos. or more) are bound to notify their vacancies to the nearest Employment Exchanges before filling it up.
vi) Issuance Of “Certificate Of Employment Of People Of Assam” :-
As per “Industrial & Investment Policy of Assam, 2019”, the Industry seeking subsidy on building, power line, etc. and concession on tax rebate, etc., the Industry concerned has to get a “Certificate on Employment for the people of Assam” from the concerned District Employment Exchange under whose jurisdiction the Industry falls.
vii). Issuance Of “Unemployment Certificate” :
The Unemployment Certificate is required for self-employment, availing bank loans, etc. by the unemployed male and female.
vi). Job Fairs/Job Drive :-
In order to make enormous jobs available in the Private sector to job seekers, the Department is organizing ‘Job Fairs’ & “Job Drive” in the Employment Exchanges at regular intervals.
vii). Inspection Of Skill Development Centres :-
Regular inspection of Skill Development Centres under the Assam Skill Development Mission(ASDM) is conducted by the Employment Officers.
