The Department Acts as an Instrument to safeguard the consumers from un scrupulous traders. In implementing the provisions of the Legal Metrology Act and Rules, the Legal Metrology official conducts periodical verification, Re-verification and stamping of all weights and measures, weighing and measuring instruments all traders including weighbridge, dispensing pumps of retail outlet of Petrol and Diesel, LPG agencies, Gravimetric Filling Machine etc. concern to convenience of the traders and the users of weights and measures, the Department setup re-verification camps periodically at different location of district where all kinds of weights and measures are re-verified and stamped and collection re-verification fees as per provision of the Legal Metrology Act & Rule.

            Surprise inspection, raids and seizure are undertaken regularly by the Enforcement staff for violation of Legal Metrology, Act/Rule.

1. Verification & Re-Verification of Weights and Measures, Weighing and Measuring Instruments.
2. Inspection to Check Whether Verified and Stamped Weights and Measures are used by the user (Trader).
3. Checking delivery made using verified and Stamped Weights and Measures.
4. Detecting offences during Inspection.
5. Ensuring mandatory declaration on the Pre-Packed commodities.
6. Ensuring Retail Sale Price (MRP) on the Pre-Packed Commodities.
7. Ensuring charging more than M.R.P. / Smudged / Alteration.
8. Awareness among the consumers etc.
