The district fish production during 2020-21 is 39078.53 MT against the requirement of 20198.31 MT while seed production is 10725 million in fry stage. The district is self sufficient in both seed and fish production. Thus, Nagaon is the top fish producing district of the State and it exports fish not only to the upper Assam district of Assam but also to the most of the NE states, mainly to Aruanchal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
